Welcome aboard, like your aqua monster, really cute second generation. I see the hood has a slight gap and some assorted dents. If the hood blows up while driving it can "spring" the hood to where it doesn't fit the same anymore and may crack the windshield too. Good news is hoods are relatively cheap and easy find, nice find.
Thanks!

I think that may have happened to it in the past. The hood does not latch properly at all and has dents where it probably folded over the top of the car and the welds on the underside of the hood are pretty much entirely disconnected. My husband's heading to the salvage yard tomorrow to see if he can find a better one. I think it's not only the hood being bent, but the latch hook spring thing is broken, so we're also replacing that.

I think finding a standard metro '94 hood should solve the hood problem as the '94's don't have the recall, but the hood is still supposed to fit. Or one with bolts near the latch assembly, I suppose. Not sure how likely it is to find that though.

We also ordered some hood pins yesterday just to keep it doubly safe.

Thorough research, I love it. I think when I replace the windshield I will put on hood pins for extra insurance too, good idea. ^o)

Hood pins, a time honored classic solution when you just can't be bothered to trust your latch :D
Good plan, and welcome aboard :)
