Hello! I'm a new metro owner and just joined the forum. Been driving my new metro for one week exactly and love it!. I have a 2000 chevy metro 2dr. hatch. 3 cyl, 5speed. I think one of the reasons that I love my car is that it reminds me of two of my previous cars.
1. in high school I drove a Renault 5 (LeCar), which was actually a blast to drive and not dissimilar to the metro (2 door hatch), although i remember the renault to be a little louder and a little peppier (no offense metro!), though probably a little worse fuel economy - although who cared in 1994 when gas was $1/gal!. 2. from 02-07 I had a suzuki samurai which I loved - and the engine seemed really similar to my metro but with one more cylinder. Anyways, just saying hi and I'll be posting soon for sure.

Thanks guys! yes, I'll post pics soon,

Also, cool to see some others from va.

Potter - excellent! Highland Co. is great - we were recently there for the maple festival. I live between Briery Branch and Rawley Springs in a hollow at the bottom of the mtn. - from briery branch I can take WV 25 down into Sugar Grove, WV and then across into Highland - but my wife doesn't like that road ;)

as requested, here is a picture of my metro - sorry there aren't more pics.

I've had it about 2 weeks now and have done the following
new cat-back exhaust
new battery
plugs
wires
dist. cap and rotor button
air filter
adjust clutch
replace antenna
new tires - 155/80-13 dorals
4 wheel alignment
change oil
change tranny fluid (synchromesh)
inspection

I think that's it.

I LOVE this car. it is so small and simple and easy to drive and easy to work on.

oh yeah, filled it up with gas for the first time last week and I can't wait to get my first mileage estimate - but judging by the rate at which the fuel needle is descending - it may take a while :)

and thanks for all of your help so far - this is a VERY welcoming and friendly forum - like extremely

Welcome to your new forum, FLINT! :coffee

Nice looking car and great maintenance. :thumb :thumb

Don't trust your gas gauge. Drive 400 miles and fill it. Note where the needle is. Then you will know your mpg and you can multiply that by 10 to know how many miles you can go on a tank, withe a half gallon left over. If you go the whole 10 gallons you will know where the needle is and just how far you can push it. I fill up when the needle is to the left edge of the red line and it takes maybe 8 gallons.

Welcome Flint!!!!! Now paint those @#$%$#@ rims.

We like our whips clean and shinny. Don't make us come out there and do a total rebuild on the engine and body, I'm warning you!!!!

Thanks guys! you know, now I'm second guessing myself, I better check and make sure its a 2000 and not a 99,

the funny thing about this car is that it has NOTHING extra, not even a hatch release button, nothing, but it has A/C. although I've already removed the belt going to the compressor and want to remove all of the a/c components soon - i've never been an a/c user.

and yes, I do need to paint the wheels, that is in the plans.
