Door lock hardware; best source

I'm new to the world of Metros, and don't pop into the Forum very often.

My 1991 Metro convertible has a door lock cylinder with broken-off key in it and another which doesn't lock at all. The glove box cylinder is completely missing. Only "intact" and functioning lock is on the trunk lid :-(

Best source for replacements? I tried the local master locksmith, they can't get new parts. Haven't tried GM dealer. Junkyards around here are scarce for Geos.

Maybe a "dumb Q" also: are all Metro keys and after-market replacements made of such soft metal that they twist so easily under normal use? Mine sure seem to! :(

Best advice? Thanks for your help.

I believe either suzuki or GM can get you the lock assemblies, they'll be expensive. Junkyard, or members on here are probably your best bet. Also post in the 'wanted' section over at teamswift.net, its kinda like a sister site to GMF, may have some luck there.

Just checked: Suzuki dealer cannot get Geo parts; GM dealer said the parts are long discontinued. Guess that means hunting down used parts, which I was hoping would not be the case. :shake

Well thats an easy fix for you really ... I'm sure lots of guys on here can find what you need and send it to you.

Just put the word out via an ad in the "Wanted" section, bump the post and I guarantee you will be sitting pretty in no time.
