I've been hearing a lot about the new Google Plus (Google+) service, their new social network.

Right now it's in closed beta, but there are invites available on the "black market" (grey market?) So I paid the dollar on Ebay and got me an invite. It's pretty sweet, and will get better once more people sign up.

As it turns out, I can invite practically anybody - and I won't charge you a dollar. Anybody want to try it out?

EDIT: You don't need an invite anymore! G+ is now open to the public. Check it out! http://plus.google.com

It's similar to Facebook/Twitter. There are some interesting distinctions:

~ You don't friend anyone. You put them in circles (friends, or family, or whatever), and they can put you in their circles if they want. Sort of like following on Twitter.

~ You can post status updates to specific circles, instead of everybody seeing your posts.

~ They have a really cool video group chat feature, as well as the usual gmail chat.

EDIT: It's open for business! I guess it's no longer closed beta. Just sign in. Check it out for yourself. http://plus.google.com

Why not? Establish alibis, give a false impression of yourself. Make yourself look like a model citizen online, while torching orphanages.

Yep, still in beta and evidently popular because it's exceeded it's capacity. I wish Google+ luck as I am an Facebook user and it is a kludge,a haphazard mix of various types of code that doesn't have a consistent interface. Google excels at good coding has a real chance with this. People did swarm on mass to Facebook from Myspace and maybe they'll do it once more, just not right now.

Hmm, when I visit the page it says Join Here. I think they are just about to come out of Beta if they haven't already.

Well, for anyone who wants in, PM me with an email address and I'll invite you.
