Duct tape heals all wounds

Couple of things I saw, one, those gals were TERRIBLE over actors :lol
Two, does it really take 5 demonstrations to get the point across ? I think the whole clip could have been shorter by at least 1 and a half minutes.

Was 30C here, baking hot. Car sat in the sun all day. After work I rolled up the drivers window, opened and closed the door 5 times following the motion demonstrated in the video. Got in and did not burn myself on the seats. It really works! My boss who is an asshole rolled up in his big guzzling truck and asked me what I was doing, and I refused to tell him or course.

That's not hot, but I guess everything is relative.

Has anyone else noticed that if you just open the doors and the hatch that all the hot air leaves? I think of it as "dumping" the heat out. Try it sometime...Sit in your hot car. Super hot right? Now open the doors and the hatch, wait 30 seconds. A slight breeze helps. Shut all the doors, and sit down. Much cooler! Probably around ambient temps.

Not all cars can do this effectively, but Metros can due to the tiny roof and wide hatch opening.

If you really want to let the heat out, you need a small vent in the roof at the highest point. A friend of mine had a Honda Element with this sort of a vent/moonroof thing in the back. Parked in the sun all day long. I tell you, that car stayed cool inside! We were able to keep instruments in the back seat (not a good idea in a very hot car).

I was thinking of aluminizing my room or mirroring it. combine this with window shades and it would stay a LOT cooler in the cars.

what we really need is a CLEAR "tint" of sorts that blocks UV and and as much IR as possible.

Nerys, there ARE coatings for commercial windows that preferentially reflect IR radiation. Almost all glass-covered sky-scrapers have windows with coatings like that.

I am actually working on just that. hole in the hatch floor to suck the cooler under car air INTO the car and another hold (firewall maybe?) to let the hot air get out.

ideally would be hold up front and leave the wings open but I have to figure out how to keep WATER out :-)

Better be careful not to suck the exhaust fumes in!

30C? 86F? When it gets that cold here, we think about breaking out the sweaters! :D That's hardly warm enough to turn on the swamp cooler, let alone the A/C! We don't consider it hot until it's over 100F (38C) and not baking hot until about 115F (46C). That's outside temps. In the car, it can get over 160F. (71C)

Rather than use strange, silly gadgets, we just put up a reflector in the windshield (keeps the steering wheel from burning your hands) and, like Jezza, just turn on the A/C.

Its been within a degree or two of 100 degrees F where I live all of last week if not longer. Open the door on my cars and its like getting into a preheated oven. It takes driving around the block with the door open to get the hot air out and the ac started blowing cool air. I am going to look into the idea of creating a fan system I can control by remote. A electric fan like a radiator cooling fan moves enough air to do some good, it comes down to how at this point. Would be nice before you start to the car to hit the remote and for a minute or so let your fan get the majority of the flames out of your car. Would be nicer just to hit the remote and when you get in, done. Getting in and sitting in the hot car to roll up window visers and storing them away takes more time, not to mention its still hot in the car although they do help.
