You're awesome and have some adventurous spirit within you! About 30 years ago, I did a 400mile ride over a week, camped the entire way. It was a life changing experience for me.

A couple months after I met my G/F, she announced she was and a girlfriend were going to do the 2008 Aids benefit ride, SF to LA, 7days, 550 miles. We had hiked the 18 mile half-dome trek in 12hrs, so I knew she had stamina and the heart for it. But at the time, she was what I would call a 'baby cyclist', having just bought her first real road bike, a 30 mile ride (on flat ground no less)was almost too much for her.

I have a pretty strong cycling background from my youth, so I offered to train her. And train we did, over 5 months of training, I kicked her butt up and down the hills in and around the wine country of Napa/Sonoma. The result was She completed her goal, although not easy she did the 550 mile ride, while raising money for a good cause. I was one proud coach!

Keep it up Yiffzer! :thumb Only 130 miles or so to go. I got a call form Yiffzer today and he's in Springfield,Massachusetts. I offered him a ride, but he wants to continue despite being in pain. I wish I had that determination! We'll have a few of these when you get here! :cheers

Heck Yif, I'm impressed as all get out that you've gone 210 miles. For a first time long ride, thats more than I would credit most people being able to do :thumb Hope the rest of your ride goes well.

My girlfriend couldn't do two miles! I do have an aunt however that walked from Alabama to Maine, following mountain trails.

Looking forward to seeing a picture of the bike and gear packed in the back of the "new" metro with the smiling owner at the wheel. Congratulations on the progress so far, I'm quite certain you will finish the ride and be justifiably proud of your accomplishment!
