Even though I'm no longer a Metro owner I still can't stop seeing them!

So far I've installed a clutch on a friends 92 metro, diagnosed and fixed a tranny leak, fixed an exhaust leak, and this weekend I'm putting an engine in another one! Also the guy that bought mine is making progress and I've helped with a couple things there too. :cheers

Somewhere, in the cold, dark, night, there is a lonely Metro crying...calling your name...

yeah, shoot it and put it out to pasture!! That is some serious rot.

EDIT: And I say that not only because the frame horns are non-existent, but also because the rot extends deep into the firewall. Your friend essentially has nothing to weld into.

He would still have to weld those frame horns onto something. The risk is too high with the firewall toasted.

Build a new firewall! If you have the metal, the time, and the skill(or the time to learn) I don't see how you couldn't just build the whole frame from scratch.

Sound more like a candidate for a tubular steel front end. :)

He paid $300 for the car as is with a second good engine. The engine in the car has a burnt valve.

I personally believe it worth attemping to fix.... you have to see it, the body is perfect and the interior is very well kept and it has a/c. It is only the passanger one, the driver is pretty solid. I think he can take strips of metal and start them on the firewall and beld the out to the horns creating new horns too.

I will keep you all posted, he doesn't have any cash to buy another shell, but he does have metal, a welder, time, and his father to weld.
