Ok, so I'm on my way to work this morning, running late as usual. I get off I-40 and pull behind a car waiting to turn right onto Hwy 70. The car in front of me pulls out & I pull forward to the line and stop. All of a sudden BAM!!! - I'm knocked about three feet by a Chevy Suburban. I gather myself and pull off to the side of the road & the guy that hit me pulls off the road in front of me. We get out & he asked if I'm okay. Then he preceded to tell me that he is late for work & asks if I'll follow him to his work to get this sorted out. I respond by telling him that I'm staying right where I am and preced to call 911. He bitches at me for stopping because he said the light had turned green when I stopped. I didn't even look at the light because I was watching oncomming traffic instead. He was such a jerk, no once did he say he was sorry! A Conover officer arrived and we did the paperwork & such. Afterwards the officer told me that the Suburban guy was totally at fault - well duh! Anyway - looks like the rear bumper is trashed along with the driver's taillight. I also noticed that the impact broke my seat too. Looks like I'll be laying down on the ride home this evening. Worse case is that the car will get totalled because of it's age & mileage - but I plan to fix the car one way or another. Edited by Foothills_XFi, Aug 16 2011, 02:28 PM.

Don't fret that little bit of damage, it could have been much worse and you weren't hurt...Sounds like the guy in the suburban was a regular a-hole -also If it makes you feel better your geo still looks much nicer than mine |

They will try to total your car .. do not let them. If they total your car you will have to buy it back & get a salvage title .. that's a hassle for you and cash out of your pocket .. you should not be hassled because of there clients mistake. Go see/call your family physician and report a bad head ache .. if no family physician your boss, principle, nurse ... someone credible .. get that on paper ASAP. After they try and total the car talk to there insurance adjuster/rep have them pay you $50 less then the totaled value. You may have to get very firm with them and push it up the chain of command. There insurance will be much more friendly with you when they know you can sue them but all you want is fair compensation for your car. They tried to total my Metro not to long ago .. I did exactly what I am advising you to do and got $725 for my car .. the totaled value was $750 Here was the thread I started about it .. My fancy new paint is ruined !! |

I hear the suzuki esteem late model seats bolt in, or the 89-2000 swift seats bolt in too. Best of luck to you. You did the right thing in not letting him leave the scene. Sorry to hear about the accident |

from the looks of the shadows on your rear fender you may have more damage than is evident. Pay strict attention to the advise abourt not letting them "total" your title. It is a pain in the butt if they do. |

Thanks for the replys guys. Hopefully I can fix it really quickly. I actually have a set of Swift GT seats in my Samurai that I may swap over after all the insurance crap is taken care off

Yeah that's kinda what I am afraid of - until I get the bumper cover off, I won't know how the rear body faired during the accident. I will take all the totalling advice in consideration too - I would prefer not to have a salvaged title |

All you need is a tree and a chain to straighten anything behind the bumper

Johnny, that's not cool to do. The ''greenies '' might come after you for damaging a live tree. I use a telphone pole. It's allready dead. Ken..... |

That'll buff right out. ![]() Sounds like a typical Suburban driver. Once he saw that he was gonna get pwned for rear-ending a car that gets almost four times the mileage of his barge on wheels probably added insult to injury. ;-) |

You could bout put any small subcompact seat in there you want. The glider rails are bolt on and it's a simple matter of making a flat bracket to fit the new seat and bolt them together, had to do this to put the racing seats in mine. |

Yesterday before I left work, I opened the hatch to check for damage - then the hatch wouldn't close back. Slammed it really hard & got it to catch finally. Also niticed a slight buckle above the driver's side wheel well. I'm going to have my wife take it & get an estimate this week. I get the police report back tomorrow....
