Was at a red light, he was going pretty slow, luckily. He was in a minivan, and his front bumper seemed to perfectly match with my rear bumper, luckily. Got out, could not see any visual damage at the rear of my car. I had heard a sound like something shattering (was wearing headphones at the time unfortunately), but I think it was my little sliding holder by the cigarette lighter that slid out and spilled coins. So... I'm not convinced that my car really escaped without any consequence. When I talked to the guy, he was like "wow you have a tough little car", and I was like... uh... it's a metro. Noticed some unfamiliar little rattling in the dash/hatch when I drove away, although I can't really be certain since I usually listen to music while driving anyways, and I have a lot of trash in my car, and I only had it for 5K miles. Is there anything I should check for damage? Trust me they either gotta hit at the corner or hit you hard in the rear end to really mess you up. before the fox body rear ended me i was rear ended by a chevy pickup, no damage was done that i saw BUT check your tail lamps they would be the first to break in that type of collision. glad you where not hurt nor was your metro (that we know of) |

Its a shame but that is exactly what happens around here! I have a friend who was rear ended. He had like three lawyers call him within 24 hrs and told him to go to the local hospital and get a xray and we will get you 20000. |

Glad to hear you're fine, uhhh, I mean that you'll get better with physical therapy. This is probably the 3rd I got tagged in my Metro Topic in 2 days. You never see a topic, "I Creamed an SUV with my Metro Today". Insurance companies should pay us to drive them. Take the music out of your ears, and watch your 6. |

Hmm it would really never occur to me to use such a situation to my advantage. I tend to pride myself on NOT being fragile rather than vice versa... lol. And it was strange because I was watching this van approaching too fast in my rear view mirror for a couple seconds, almost in a trance-like state, with a strange sense that something bad was about to happen. Then felt the impact. I am just the type of person to sit back and watch things happen without reacting, but I don't think I could have avoided it anyways. The guy said he was picking up something off the floor rather than watching the road... LOL. |

Nope.... you have body pan, Fiberglass reinforcement bar, 2 PP plastic square block absorbers then the ABS plastic bumper cover.. no foam absorbers on these cars. |

Wearing headphones while driving? That's illegal in my neck of the woods. Glad you're okay. |

On one hand I thought YEAH wearing headphones should be illegal. you can't hear whats going on around you. Then you sit in a "nicer" car and realize its so quiet you can't hear whats going on around you anyway so whats the point of the law? Still crosses me as a bad idea though :-) (bad idea to wear headphones while driving) Edited by nerys, Aug 20 2011, 08:17 AM.
