So here i am driving to my garage to meet a friend up there to load up his 100 lb anvil, he makes his left hand turn on the street, so im stopped getting ready to make my turn since, there was a log truck and a pickup behind him coming twards me. Im sitting waiting to them to pass, turn signal on, and i look in my rear view mirror soon enough to see a dump truck speeding behind me, i glance back to see where the log truck was to turn, look in my rear view mirror again, and see a dumptruck still speeding, but with his brakes locked up about 200 feet back, so without thinking i drop to first and GUN IT left inbetween the log truck and the white pickup behind that, just in time to be Missed by i shit you not 2 feet from being creamed by the dump truck, Heres the pictures of the skid marks, keep in mind you see my little puny burnout mark going left, from my drivers side tire, and by now you all know how wide geos are, so you tell me, how damn close was i? Is it time to get rid of all of them? seeing as how ive only owned this one for 3 days now, and nearly been hit 4 times now?![]()

WAY too close for comfort. Good to hear you are ok. Personally I try to drive my Geo as defensively as if I were riding a motorcycle - always looking for a way out. Many drivers simply don't seem to be paying attention and I am convinced overlook everything smaller than a Suburban. |

Glad to see you're safe. Driving a Metro requires skills in defensive driving. It looks like you're up to the task. |

Is that your red geo in the picture? I remember accident statistics in high school driver ed. Most accidents occur - At dusk and dawn Most reckless drivers - own small sports cars The least visible car is - red because that is a low energy spectrum of light Drivers with the most accidents are: - Under 25 due to lack of road experience So, your most likely to get into an accident if you're 18 years old driving a red convertible on a country road around dusk or dawn. I think a red geo is not that visible either, that's why I put the reflective tape along the top edges of my equally invisible BLACK Geo. The fact you saw the dump truck with his brakes locked at 200 feet means he saw you, but he might have been going too fast. |

Glad to hear you're alive and ok. Makes me think there might be some good in a high-mounted third brake light for our cars. It would help if it were a super-bright set of LED's with a fast pulse. That oughta get there attention. |

Did the driver even stop? I would have caught up to him if he didn't and grabbed the plates, not sure if the police can do much about it... but even a warning in the drivers direction may completely change the way he drives. |

Between a log truck and a dump truck, I don't think it would have mattered what you were driving. Good job on saving the Metro's (and yours) life.

You should have gotten his plate number and turned him in to the DOT before he kills someone. It doesn't look like his brakes were working right. |

After buying Stimpy, I'd be scared if your wife suddenly ups your life insurance. Maybe she sent the dump truck!

I would have definately called the police, Looks like the only brakes that he had working was the left rear duleys....he even had to hit the ditch to keep from hitting the log truck that was in front of you. |
