Well so my G10 seems to be burning about a quart or so ever 1000 miles. Have not done the compression test yet, but Its got 170k on the motor right now, and I do not think that it has been taken care of all that well through its life time. I have taken a gander at all the self help guides here and will def use them for the rebuild but my main questions are, I have found rebuild kits on ebay: This one is Cheaper http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-00-Geo-Metro-G10-1-0L-Engine-Rebuild-Kit-SZEKG10L-/370317355742?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AGeo|Model%3AMetro|Year%3A1997&hash=item5638a26ade#ht_2704wt_902 This is more $ http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-Chevrolet-GEO-Metro-1-0L-G10-Engine-Rebuild-Kit-/220740346882?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AGeo|Model%3AMetro|Year%3A1997&hash=item3365266402#ht_3584wt_940 Also should I just bypass these and go for something else? Everyone here seems to have a conflicting opinion on which brand to go with for the gaskets Ive seen FelPro and other brands people have recommended. What SHOULD I use? Also as far as tooling goes does anyone have a good list of tools that I would need for this job? That would be much appreciated! Thanks Guys!

Berry Hone Rings Head Gasket Head Bolts Pretty much the bare minimum for a rebuild. Headgaskets vary; pick what you want. I'm going with the cheapest one I find. If it doesn't work i'll report back. |

It really depends on you as to how much you want to spend and what quality rebuild you want to do. Definately count on some valves and valve seals and possibly rings and rod bearings and maybe even a piston should you find a cracked one. New head gasket and bolts. This would be minimum I would say. |

Is your engine using oil or leaking? Check the compression and vacuum. Oil every 1000 miles is less expensive and takes less time than overhaul. Does it run well? Fuel economy? |

Its using it, It has not leaked a drop actually. It runs ok, gets 30 in the city and its a 5 speed not as good as it should be getting though. |

Ive got a 4 day weekend here this coming weekend, so Im kinda figuring to do it then. As far as the head goes should I go ahead and rebuild it? I have seen 200$ heads on Ebay as well. |

$200 eBay head with cam. That's the one. Order now. Also, 4 cylinder ring set on eBay $26. Same as 3 cylinder rings. Rockauto.com for rod bearings, etc. Send me a PM. I'll send you a linked list for a ring and bearing job. |

... So its been kind of difficult for me to locate a cyl hone tool that Mullet recommends, the 3" Bottle Brush (Berry Hone). Napa Autozone and Harbor Freight only carry the ones with the stones like thesehttp://www.harborfreight.com/4-inch-engine-cylinder-hone-97164.html Are these recommended by you or anyone else here Glenn? |

Napa does carry the flexhones. Heres their catalogue. Type in 190 at the top where it says cover and hit the enter key. As for the old style hones they will work fine if you get the right size for your block. http://ecatalograck.genpt.com/pdfcat/ToolsEquipment_Linked/WebProject.asp?BookCode=teq10flx |

Ok these are going for 115$ you cant get the 3" in STD lower end model of the Flex hone, is this something I am able to use and return later on or is there a less expensive one that I am missing somewhere. |

That I cannot answer. I know their catalogue does not show a 3" hone in the lower grade hone but a call to the local store might reveal they can get one of the lower grade hones in that size. I am not sure. As for the older style hone, I think autozone will loan you one and that will cost you nothing. |

Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Research-FLEX-HONE-Cylinder-Abrasive-Diameter/dp/B002XUL0X6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314643365&sr=8-1 You can buy that one, and I think they make a 74mm one too, but they both do fine. |
