So, when my lights are on, my car will die if i take it out of gear. Why?? It doesn't during the day.

Helpp!

:hmm Do your DRL (daytime running lights) come on during the day? They should come on when you lower the parking brake.

Or does this only happen when you turn the lights on from the switch? If it only happens when you turn the switch, it could be a short in the switch.

Strange issue but you might have your charging system checked and see if your alternator is charging correctly.

Fear the Mullet

I suspect a weak battery or poor connections causing the alternator to work harder.

Yes, have battery and alternator checked. You basically do not have enough power to run the engine computer and the lights. Also, your car is a 92, the running lights do not come on automatically like the later models so dont worry about that. :thumb

:smackface Guess I shoulda paid attention to your model year.
Will your car stay running if you rev the engine when you turn on the lights? If so listen to the guys above me. Get your charging system checked. ^o)

As mentioned above you should also have the alternator checked out - it's the other half of the charging system. Bad batteries and bad alternators don't always go together but they are part of the same system and one can cause the other...
