Mrs. Mullet's car is so clean that she will be entitled to park amongst the Canadian's collection of super clean Swifts.

It's been a long time since I updated this thread. That is because this Metro has been pretty much trouble free until a small oil leak appeared, but Geo Glenn has me covered............![]() The exhaust broke off behind the cat pipe connection so I replaced the resonator pipe and muffler with the parts I saved from her old 97 Metro that rotted out............. ![]() I replaced the rear brake shoes and the rear wheel cylinders a couple months ago.............. ![]() Shortly after her right rear bearing started howling, so I slapped on a used hub/bearing assembly and it started making noise also. Since the used parts I had were rusty and had a ledge, the damn old hub would not come off unless I did some cutting and splitting......... ![]() This car must be ready for a 4000 mile round trip to Geos on the Gulf and back, so I bought all new inner and outer bearings for her car and packed them with the best shit in the world, Lubriplate grease............ ![]() First I popped out the outer bearing with a hammer and punch and noted the direction of the spacer (beveled or smaller side towards outer bearing)................ ![]() ![]() I then popped out the inner bearing the same way............... ![]() I cleaned the hubs so they were perfect............ ![]() I then placed the newly packed inner bearing in place and used a same sized socket to match the outer diameter of the bearing and tapped into place............ ![]() ![]() ![]() I then popped the spacer in and installed the outer bearings............ ![]() ![]() ![]() This car should be all set to go on it's journey now ![]() |

I got a few issues to resolve with the wife's car. First, the Mark Dvorak "No Blow" head gasket is blown and will have to be replaced ASAP since it's now leaking coolant too............![]() ![]() Also the right rear bearings are grinding again for the 3rd freakin' time I am going out now to get started and will finish tomorrow. |

Not the no blow gasket blown. When it comes to a head gasket, it is a pretty bold statement to say (this gasket will never blow). Its more of a sales pitch than anything. No one that knows engines and knows a blown head gasket is always possible would say such a thing except to induce more sales. If he really stood behind his no blow headgasket he would offer a warranty of repair and replacement cost should it ever blow. He may, I do not know. A better suggestion is for him to remove the No Blow comment from his gaskets and just advertise a quality head gasket.

Here is what I found........... Exhaust manifold and valve cover off........... ![]() Removed the head and propped up out of the way........... ![]() There is a definite sign of evidence of the oil leak near the check valve........ ![]() Also note on closer inspection there is brown sludge and some spots of the gasket where pin holes started......... ![]() I will finish tomorrow since it's time
