Lil red metro

Glad you finally got something that doesn't need welding underneath. I will have to check out the new toys next time I visit. Enginedoctorgeo, I couldn't change the wedding date due to over 150 people coming and some from very far away. My next door neighbor did the best man duty. What color is this one going to be?

I was just pulling his leg a little. He did not know he was gonna have the new ride at the time anyway. Congrats

Member pacopperhead really helped me out on this deal. Him and his fiance were following behind me and the wife in 2010 when the frame broke on Christine on the main drag in Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio. We went into on-coming traffic and is was a bad experience. They drove us 50 miles to PA so I could grab the wrecker and get it off the drag...........

The second time we experienced this is in late 2010 when the frame buckled on her 97 Metro that I spent many hours restoring SEE HERE for the project.........

Posted Image

Then just recently my trusty 92 XFi broke on an Interstate bridge while we were fully loaded with 2 dogs, luggage, camping gear, and more on our way to my brother's wedding that I missed............

Member wobblybob helped me in being able to pick up this car, so I owe both these members, and the many others who messaged me in my situation a huge "THANK YOU"

The wife says she wants the airbags working and the dash replaced on the 96, so it looks like I am going to start the dash removal from the 98 (Christine) and putting the dash in the new 96 for her.

I guess I could post a "How To" on the dash removal?

Auto to manual is way more important than that one though...so if you want to do just one...

I already got the dash out and took pictures for a write-up. Now to pull the dash from the 96 and install both. Less than 3 hours to remove for a rookie :)

Got 70 MPG?

Looks like the window crank is sun faded as well. Are the ones in the other faded too? Or is Mrs. Mullett not THAT picky? ;)

We went on a road trip with the 96 and noticed the temp gauge going up. I found low coolant and topped it off and then we smelled coolant :smackface

Found out the coolant was getting into the combustion chambers. This could mean only one thing. Head gasket is leaking again so since the engine was overheated before I assume the block surface is warped and it was one of those things in the back of my head that I knew I should have checked since I was in there and know it was overheated bad.

The second gear in the trans is also screwed up and constantly grinding, so this weekend this car is getting a complete overhaul with the Ecomudder engine I painted and the trans I saved from the 97. I still have the original Ecomudder block, so I will also do it up and update that thread later.

So this 97 block and head that is all pretty and painted will go in...........

Last night I cleaned up the good tranny and got it painted gloss black. I will update this with pics as I get started on it tomorrow.
