Ok took my freshly rebuilt 1.3 out on the freeway today ran so well cruised at 60-65 stopped checked oil all good. Now Idling is a whole other story, before I started the rebuild with a bad #1 piston which half of was in the oil pan this car Idled fine never a stumble at all. I did not separate the intake manifold from the head at all. Now that it's all back together it really runs well, no over heating, no knocks, no ticking valves, no check engine light but also NO IDLE! at stop lights it stumbles all over it self and dies, starts right back up but you have to slightly touch the gas, Ok no real problem, right? NO! I looked at my wiring schematics and verified power to the wires in the IDLE CONTROL MOTOR and in the TPS, I came across the INTAKE AIR TEMP SENSOR found a wire hanging together by one strand I pulled on it and broke it off, GGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR. Ok so I go to wrecking yard tomorrow and get a new one and while I'm there I'll grab the Idle Control Motor . I see that they are only like $269-589 online new OMFG! Does anyone know of the history of these seemingly gold plated trimmed in uranium, diamond encrusted items do they just fail like that? It worked well then it doesn't Ok so if anyone knows anything about the thing hit me up I need to know why, thanks Randy, "Geeeo" |

Definitely get that black box ISC, mine went bad about this time last year, but mine malfuctioned in the eact oposite way that yours did. I had a 4-5k RPM idle.

From my hours of research on the ISC, here's what I've learned: You can try just cleaning the ISC if you are adventurous. That's what we did. Wasn't too hard. Didn't make a difference 'cause ours was working. If it's working properly, when you plug the vacuum hose to the ISC it should not affect the idle (assuming your idle is normal). If you idle high, if it is working, when you plug the hose it should drop the idle down to normal. If it is not working, when you plug the vacuum hose it will stall or almost stall the car. Also, if it is unplugged it should not allow air through at all. Of course, your Geo is slightly newer than mine, so your ISC set up might be different. |

You're talking about the IAC. Geos after 1995 do not have an IAC, we have an ISC. The ISC is completely electronic, it doesn't run off of vacuum at all, that's why on newer geos, the vacuum port on the bottom of the TBI hat is plugged. |
