Is there a how-to for water pump replacement?

Haynes tells me to "install new rubber seals between the water pump and the cylinder head and between the water pump and the oil pump." I haven't started this work yet, so have not seen what they are talking about. New rubber seals did not come with the new pump. I didn't see any mentioned in RockAuto's water pump choices. Might be a good place for a carefully applied small dab of RTV??

Thanks,

The only rubber seal that touches the water pump is the rubber seal on the timing belt cover. You only need the gasket that came with the pump. :thumb

Got 70 MPG?

Throw away that manual and get a factory service repair manual. :thumb

Don't forget the o-ring on the tube exiting the pump.

its super easy. I hate those paper gaskets they come with, always a bitch to scrape off to make room for the new one. I always use silicon. but thats up to you. dont overtighten the bolts. its super easy to do, replace timing belt while you are at it too. and if ur gonna use the paper gasket, coat it with a bit of silicon for better sealing

Used the paper gasket, but put silicon on both sides of it. Shouldn't have bothered with it. Changed the timing belt and the drive belts, too. All bolts put in with torque wrench. Started right up and runs good.
Thanks,
Tom
