Well, long time no talk! Our 95 metro was needing work, as you all can remember. Well, I had a mechanic who owed me work because of a car we had bought from him that stopped working. He agreed to fix our metro for the cost of parts, no labor. So we brought it to him, and he just recently got it all back together. The head was warped beyond repair due to the previous owner running it hot. :shit He got a rebuilt head and put it on. Today, though, there is a problem. The gear(?) or sprocket that the timing belt's teeth fit into is missing. When the head went from the mechanic to the machine shop, the machine shop said it was cracked, and it did not come back with the head. So now we have no way to put the timing belt on. The mechanic went to the pull it yard and pulled the wrong piece. we are having trouble finding an exact fit. So, has anyone got an idea of where to get one, or can anyone sell me one? 1995 1.0 Thanks guys! :'(

You might want to post in the "Wanted" section:

Also read the first post in that section by Johnny Mullett.

If nothing else you can double check what the mechanic does.

Got 70 MPG?

You need to match the sprocket from the same year car, different years can have different shaped teeth and either 4 or 5 bolts for the pulley.

My 95 has a 3/4" wide square tooth timing sprocket. At some point after that they went to a 1" wide square tooth, I believe it would still work...? Someone will say for sure. The older models have a solid (stamped steel) sprocket with rounded teeth. This will not work with the 95.

The part the mechanic had tried had more of a rounded teeth shape. It didn't work. I stood next to the guy while he used the phone book and called every pull-it yard in town-and he found a 3 cylinder metro. Instead of waiting on these slow moving dudes, Saturday I took what I had and went to the yard. I managed to get the part out, with the help of an experienced mechanic who happened by, and I now have it with me. Tomorrow, I will get it to the mechanic. The car i pulled from was an older model, though I don't know what year it was. The part looks the same, but i suppose there is no way of knowing without trying it?
