Seemed like there was a time I set ignition timing on a Cordoba similar to this. With #1 piston at TDC, I removed the #1 plug, leave plug wire attached, keeping the body of the plug against a grounded place on the engine. Then loosen distributor enough so that it can be turned by hand. Turn on the ignition, then turn the distributor until the #1 plug sparks. After the engine was started, I set the timing with a light. That was enough to get the timing in the ballpark to get the engine started. That was one engine I rebuilt without pulling the block. Edited by wizard93, Sep 18 2011, 10:05 PM.
