Hi All, Well I got my Metro running again. I have put about 2000 miles on it and had some minor issues creep up, but nothing out of the ordinary. The car has sat since March of this year, after all. I got the car running, and after about 1000 miles, the exhaust fell off. I expected this to happen, just not so soon. I robbed the exhaust off my other car, and it seemed to run ok, just a little less power. Then, over the course of about 2 weeks, it got alot worse. Finally last week it got to the point that whenever I slightly touched the gas, it would bog and die. I thought about it, and pulled the exhaust at the manifold, and it seemed to run a little better. I then cut the catalytic converter off, thinking it was plugged, and I still have the same problems. It starts and runs fine cold, but when it warms up, there is NO power and if I hit the gas a little quicker than normal, it bogs and I have to wait for the engine to catch up. I thought it may be a bad injector, so I swapped it out for one that I know is good, and there again, the same problems. If I turn on the a/c, it will kick in the high idle, and if I even slightly touch the gas, it bogs and dies. If I turn it off, it will run, put acts like it is starving for fuel. another thing I noticed, when I swapped throttle bodies from an excellent running car, when I removed the gas line, it squirted EVERYWHERE. I had really good fuel pressure. When I did the same to this car, it dribbled out. I also replaced the fuel filter and blew out the lines. What do you guys think? I'm thinking fuel pump, but Ive never had a fuel pump do this before. Those that have these cars, does this sound like a dying fuel pump? |

Test your fuel pump. Do not replace it without first testing to see if it is bad. Read post 46 in this thread, http://geometroforum.com/topic/4464045/4/ |
