Greetings all. I have 3 metros two 91's and a 94..all auto and would like to know if I can convert my dissy vaccume advance to the electronic advance. I know that the computer must be changed as the ignitor is inside of it. Just wondering if the wiring on the early cars are up to snuff. I have a few spares with the electronic advance,,,no spares for the vaccume advance. Thoughts anyone? |

Not recommended. You can convert nearly anything to anything. The time to do it, and exactly what to do are the unknowns. '92 and after with electronic distributors also have EGR valves. Maybe the throttle bodies are different. You would have to essentially and possibly replace the TBI, intake manifold, wiring harness, ECM, and half a dozen other things. If you ever need a vacuum distributor, visit www.rockauto.com . |

It's not worth your time to do it. You'd be better off buying one that already has the setup and moving anything you want from the old car over, but I cannot fathom the reason for doing this in the first place...? |
