Will an engine from a 1991 with a 1.0 3cyl and automatic fit into my 93 (also a 1.0 3cyl)? The junk yard said it will not work but I don't believe them. |

The block will swap straight across. You will have to remove the flexplate and the spacer behind it from the donor and replace it with the flywheel and clutch assembly from car. I would re-use your current intake/throttle body and distributor. Not sure if there are other sensors that would need changed over (for instance at some point Metros got a crank position sensor which utilizes a different oil pump and pan) but in short - yes it will work with only some minor changes. Are you planning on rebuilding the donor or hoping for plug and play? If you are shooting for plug and play then you will want to know compression numbers on the donor engine. Good Luck! |
