Got 70 MPG?

Just ordered a 3.25" silencer for that fart cannon. It's been getting on my nerves hearing it on the parkway and I had my wife stand outside this morning when I left to get an impression of how loud the car is.

She said it's pretty loud :lol

The added benefit of the silencer is that on my red Geo, I have noticeably more low end torque with the exhaust plugged up at the tailpipe, I expect no less with Two-Face.

Will this help you out at all? http://www.auto-salvage-yards.com/directory/index.html
Maybe there is a junk yard near by that you haven't come across yet. It doesn't have everything listed, but between that site & this one: http://www.car-part.com/dealersaz.shtml surely there's something closer than you think.

Sweet! Glad it could help. I found one 3 miles from me using that 1st site. I spent about an hour this morning scoping things out. GMF member Ryan & I are going there Monday morning.

I'll be getting a start on removing the interior this weekend as well as trying to take apart the speedo cable and re-lubing it. This may be the cause of my P0500 I'm having. Until that code goesp away, i'll be having an idle around 1500-1800 RPMs and barely any useable DFCO.

I tightened up the alternator and removed the A/C belt. I think I'll put it back on next summer during the really hot days.

I removed the door covers as well to free up some elbow room. The car has a small dvd player in it from the PO and the front passenger speaker was blow, and the rear speakers didn't work at all, so as I was removing the bad speaker, I figured I'd move one of the rears up front in it's place. The two front speakers were some crappy VR3 brand (same as the dvd player). Lo and behold, the rear speakers were a nicer pair of Pioneer 2-ways, so I moved both of them up front since they obviously weren't wired up.

On another note, the car IS rust free except for the rear wheel wells, they're pretty rough.

60+ MPG is definitely attainable on a STOCK Metro.
I drove 603.6 miles on this tank and topped off with 9.865 gallons (I almost didn't make it up the largest hill!)

I got 61.19MPG, and that wasn't even in the heat of summer!

I drove the red Geo to work this morning and MAN! What a difference between the two!

The red one handles better, has a lot of really low-end torque, but lacks to sheer power that Two-Face has when you give it a good amount of gas. The red one is really noisy where it's been gutted, but it doesn't lose as much speed when going up hills like Two-Face (although Two-Face should do better now with the silencer in it).

The clutch pedal on the red one is also super soft compared to Two-Face. The red still has the original clutch where Two-Face got a new one when the new motor was put in, and I think it's a different brand than OE because it's about 2.5X stiffer.

Thanks Bogs, Drove Two-Face to work today with the silencer on and it's much more tame sounding now, and it does have better low-end torque. The silencer pipe is a larger diameter than the one on the red car, so I may shrink that down a bit to the same size as red so the torque goes up a little more.

Increasing exhaust restriction gives you more low end? Blasphemy.

I need to run 4" pipe to the back, then put on a silencer myself :D

After all, if it can quiet this racket, I'm POSITIVE it will quiet my car to acceptable levels !

May not make sense on paper, but in the real world it works.
