Hi everyone, I've been lurking around for awhile and thought it was about time to post something. Two weeks ago I bought a 1999 Chevy Metro 2dr 3 cyl 5 speed at auction for $1700, little more then I wanted to pay but it is relatively rust free (some surface rust around the horns, biggest rust problems are the rockers just behind the doors) and low miles, 63K Unfortunately it came with no airbags and no radio. I got airbags on ebay for $45 and who ever took the radio out was nice enough to cut the harness as far back as they could The story on this little guy as I know it is, I got it from a University of Nebraska auction. It had been sitting for over 4 years. They had it because one of the departments, Midwest Roadside & Safety (if you watch NASCAR, these are the guys that came up with the safety barrier the gives), they had it as one of their test (crash) cars. Fortunately for this little guy the testing requirements changed and the metro no longer qualified. They got it from a dealer in MN who ripped the airbags and radio out to help lower the price since they were planing on crashing it. Before that I don't have much info but the PO and the dealer were nice enough to leave paper work in the glove box showing over $1000 in routine maintenance. Everybody loves metro porn Those are the pics for the auction, I can't find the battery charger for my camera

Thank you If you notice the hood and driver fender are a different color, it seems to have been in a fender bender and some point. I need to replace the drivers headlight (its newer then the passenger side but both mounting tabs are broke off), and mount the bumper properly who ever did it did a job of tack welding it to the driver side of the body, wiggled it a few times and it fell right off and it was sitting about 1/2 inch to high

Thanks guys, I guess I should introduce myself as well, my name is Nic I'm 22, I have an AAS in Automotive Technology and currently working for the University of Nebraska helping maintain their fleet (thats how I found out about the metro) I am by no means a master mechanic but I'm working on it. Looking around this site it seems I have come to the right place to learn about my new(to me) metro. |

Welcome to your new forum, reddevillhs17! Well, without the air bags, at least the seat belt is not attached to the door like the earlier models, eh. Looks like a lot of fun and a good project.

While I have the airbags in and a radio with upgraded speakers, put bumper back on properly and got a used headlight assembly for drivers side since the mounting tabs were broke off. She runs a little ruff, looking in to that thread here

It has been a some time since I have posted on here, I've been doing a lot of lurking and reading. The metro has been doing good, been getting 35-40 mpg depending on how I drive and I usualy drive like I stole it. My girlfriend and I are excited for geopalooza, it will be nice to meet everyone and put names with faces. |

Oh yea she is pretty clean, except for the coffee stains on the passenger seat when my mug fell over, that neon center is sounding more and more like a good idea everyday but I really like the shelf in front of the shifter.......... |
