When I was almost 400 lbs I use to crap like no ones business and had to flush twice as the crap alone would clog the turlet. I use to save my craps for work since they had the power flusher that could flush any elephant sized load you could toss at it.

You can use those - it's just that they're small and if you need more height you have to stack them. Harder to tape in place vs the ones I posted that stick out from the base. Also more expensive vs the other ones that you could also use for other things (shimming door jambs, etc). |

Give me a car and I can do most repairs fairly competently. Give me a vintage piece of ham radio equipment and I can make it like new again. Most things I can figure out given enough time. But the time I had a toilet leaking around the base, and rusted bolts holding it down, I knew I had met my match, and needed to call for backup. When the plumber came to my house, I watched how he did his job. I also asked about low-flow toilets. His opinion was I was better off with my 1955 models than a new one...he felt the newer ones clogged too easily. |

I installed my water conserving turlet about a year ago. It actually flushes well and takes just a few seconds to refill. I have not had a cloggage that I can recall since installing but I do find myself flushing it twice sometimes (just to make me feel better). Of course I do not know if plumbing code has changed since these designs have come out and the new homes being built might have more plumbing line pitch by code to move the turds along better to make up for these less water commodes. I have not had any trouble with this one. I am undecided as whether to purchase another lowflow job for the bathroom in need now or stick with the gusher commode I have now. I like saving water but do not want it to bite me in the end with clogged plumbing either. |

There's great testing done on toilets these days. simulated poop and all. Kind of humorous to read the setup. Now you can know how well it flushes ahead of time. Today's toilets (really ones in the last 5 years) are great flushers - even better than the old 5 gal/flush ones. I upgraded to Toto Eco Drake toilets a few years ago. Great flusher, don't clog unless you try (put a bunch of paper in FIRST, then take a dump, then more paper), stays clean, low flow. I think I even got $100+ back in state rebates too for each. |

Find an old style toilet and install it. The new toilets are government sponsored. Guess where that will get us? Sure it takes 5 gallons to fill, but it never clogs, never stains, and it has a great big tank where you can store your bathroom library. BTW, the slope is NOT 1/4" per foot. It is 1/4" per 10 feet. You want the poo to take a lazy, relaxing voyage to the septic tank, not getting lost in the rapids of a quickly downsloping pipe. |

New style low water consumption turd flusher video. Actually I would say it flushes better than the old style but what I am curious about is after it flushes. I suppose it has suffient water cause I have not had any cloggages for over a year anyway. |

So what? When is the next time your going to eat 12 golf balls and poop them out? If they want a real world test, they need to put a six foot snake in the bowl. Yea, baby, now that's what I call a good sit down. |

FWIW, 2 low flow toilets, rate very well in MAP testing, no clogging issues in my sewer line, no 2nd flushing needed, and flushes better than the 3 gallon flusher we had before. The kitchen sink's 50' run in 2" 46 year old cast iron lines, that clogs every couple of years due to grease buildup and we're really good about not putting grease down the sink. Check that link out I posted above - there's a video there. Why use 5 gallons when the newer toilets are better flushers and use less water. |

Do boiled eggs count? Nothing like swalloning a dozen whole. Yeah, nothing like crapping out a 6ft black snake. I generally feel 10 lbs lighter after a good squat.

When we built our home we used 1/4 inch per foot Slope (as required by our state / county) and we have had no problems in 15 years. we have 15 ft from out house to the septic tank---80 ft from the septic tank to the shop with a "granny" apartment above---200 ft from the septic tank to the RV hook-up / dumping station. EDIT: One thing never mentioned about toilets is that you can purchase ones that have different size piping "built in". -- ie -- the "P" trap built into the ceramic. The really cheap ones usually have a 1 1/2 inch trap- some of the really good ones have a 2 1/2 in built in "P" trap. ===the larger the trap the better they flush. All this talk about golf balls and snakes reminded me about the movie Groove Tube and Brown 25. |
