Coleman, I have a suggestion on the O2 sensor. If you buy brand new it will cost about $60. But if you go to a junkyard and pull one out of a wrecked metro with low miles, then the cost might drop to $20. Just something to think about. |

Thanks for the advice....i already went and got a Bosch 02 sensor. I will be installing that tomorrow. I already soaked it in PB Blaster because its the OEM 02 and they are a PITA to get off. Also draining the oil pan and taking it off/cleaning it then re seal it with black RTV and hopefully that will fix the leak. and if there is time im going to drop the gas tank and re seal that on the weld. hopefully that will stop leaking. |

Replace the cat. If the o2 sensor does not fix the problem, you can take the sensor and hang it off the pass. strut tower and plug the o2 bung hole with a big screw. That will definitely solve the cel light but might not fix a cat problem. How many miles on your car? If over 200K you might want to start thinking about a new cat. |

After reading a little more on this forum it seems it could also be the TPS. Can anyone chime in and give their input on this? |

how many gears does my 97 lsi 4cyl auto have? it only shifts 2 times. I put it in D (1) then it shifts at around 15mph (2) and again around 40mph (3) and thats it. I would of thought it would have another gear? |

i never suggested that you replace the front 02 sensor i suggested you provide a voltage measurement at TOD so now that voltage measurement is still required - stop replacing parts test - do not guess ... provide the the test result requested =================================== the best / only oil that should be used in a GEO Metro / suzuki swift has ACEA A3 B3 - A3 B4 on the back of the bottle - any oil that does not have this except GM approved 5w30 synthetic oils with ACEA A1 A5 - B1 B5 http://www.gmdexos.com/aboutdexos.html Dexos1 is the current minimum specification oil to be used in your car as per the GM engineers who designed it . the GM oil is not as good as the ACEA A3 B3 - A3 B4 , any other oil including the dogshnit oil that JM is using will lead your engine to an early premature death study and learn at the BITOG forums |

Does your exhaust leak only make itself apparent when driving the car and accelerating? Mine leaks around the manifold to downpipe connection when the engine is under load. My cat is plugged and is creating enough backpressure to overcome the springs on the flange joint. If you start throwing new o2 sensors at the problem while still running with a plugged cat it could come back and bite you. |
