I bet if you put the belt back on and tighten it up and crank up the car it will come off on its on! :lol

If your really having that hard of a time with it, put you a pry bar behind the pulley like this and pry towards the fender.

So that's how I bent that pulley that one time. It's been a while since I've had one rusted on like that. Nerys, is there a salvage yard replacement available, just in case?

After removing those bolts there is nothing of excess to hold that pulley on unless someone has glued it on or welded it. With only rust holding it, you are not going to bend the pulley! This is not how you bent your pulley Glen! :D I cannot imagine why he is having such a time removing such a simple part. All the g10 water pump pulleys I have took off, fell off after removing the bolts.

Right, Doc. The one that gave me a hard time was in the salvage yard. I've seen some rusty ones out there, but no real super-human strength was required. I use the handle of my 15" breaker bar as a lever. They pop and drop, just like downtown.

Grr

I will try again but I have broken enough bits in this car by using excessive force and I DO NOT have a replacement pulley. (yeah checked the local P&P fresh out of metro's Grrrr)

can I buy it new anywhere? so far no one has it most don't even list it.

Try a 3 jaw puller, it would stress the pulley less than prying from 1 side.

Used water pump and pulley on ebay

Make sure you get sealant for the water pump!

Great videos. That poor dude! It reminds me of myself starting out. Persistence is the key ingredient in most endeavors.

That's just the nature of the beast in trouble shooting and repair. You learn many things by trying and trying again, and you get faster. There is no harm in redoing something multiple times IMHO. You do have to be patient enough with yourself to see and take the rewards that come with this attitude when doing repairs. Like that old saying, “it’s not the rock that broke the plow, it was the haste"
