I've been watching these little cars ever since they first came out.

Unfortunately they will never sell for $2500 here in the USA. By the time they add Kalifornia emissions, 26 airbags, backup camera, cruise control, heated seats, theater system, in-dash car PC, GPS, then it'll cost $17,000 and get 35 MPG like every other car currently being made here.

And this is why I drive my 18 year old Metro!

damn straight. everytime i hear a commercial bragging about 40 mpg...... highway. i laugh. my car does that. in town. with me blasting around. in extremely poor condition. for about 1500 bucks all repairs included.

yeah. that stupid chrysler 300 commercial. i used to be able to squeeze 38 mpgs highway out of my 96 sentra. that's as good as today's sentras. mine's cooler though.

also, how the hell does the smart car meet safety standards? that thing could be solid steel with a roll cage and 50 airbags and you would still die if a truck hit you. hell, you might die if a pedestrian hits you.

:gp +200 because that is conservatively how many $/month my 94 hatch saves me over my Taurus and it cost me about $1200 all in. I have had it for about three months so it is half paid for. The $1200 includes my improvements. The GT seats and the cluster with tach. :banana

How can I go wrong? Easy to work on and phenomenal mileage. If it dies there are lots of cheap replacements here in Canada. It is just difficult but not impossible to find a solid bodied one.

I could never justify spending the large cash for a new econo car to get fuel savings. My payback period would run in to the multiple decades :banghead and I am way past caring about the "poser" factor.

Sorry earthtoad, your wrong. tata nano is CHINESE for small hooters. The Indian's were contracted by the chinese to build the cars in a black op type of communist capitalism. Them taters are definetly from china. Indian taters are slightly bigger, hence is should really be called a tata'ed nano. :D :lol

I would just be happy with a small diesel from Europe. They get great MPG and are nice cars with more power than my Geo. Diesel cost more here in the states because we are stupid. We live in the land of the screwed. :shake

I could go with that. I would also say that if most of the people knew what was overseas they would be upset that we can't get it here. I just drove a ford mini van in Germany last week that got 50 MPG. How many soccer moms would love to have that?

Why you Mutt!

I love not having TV (got rid of DirecTV in 2007)! They're BRAGGING about 30mpg highway? That was about the WORST I ever got in the metro...mid-summer, A/C blasting, automatic, overheating (w/bad temp gauge). Usually about 40 or so. If I can get a manual into it... :)

Hell...I'm getting about 30mpg outta the antique Benz...with enough room to carry the Metro in the trunk (well, almost) and five people!

While they might like the mileage, I seriously doubt they would like the costs of fuel that goes with it.

Hi all
I am here with a hot news that Tata motors had postponed its upcoming Tata Nano 2012 diesel which was earlier in news that Tata will be launching it in 2012. One good news is also here that Tata will introduce its new car in auto expo 2012.
