So ever since I put the new transmission on the starter doesnt always work.

To start my car Ive got to use a wrench to turn the motor over till the starter grabs if I'm not on a hill or I can push start the car. If I cant get enough speed to get it to start usually I can at least move it enough to get the starter to grab.

Any ideas why it doesnt always want to work.

I checked and the flywheel isnt bent.

Could my 94 starter not work on the 95+ trans?

If the teeth on the ring gear aren't damaged this is the most likely cause. Check on rock auto and see if they are different part numbers. I dont have the time to look right now

Just checked. They appear to have the same part for all engines between 94 and 95 so that shouldn't be it.

Do you have the little plate between the trans and starter installed?

I took an engine from a 95 to put in my 94 and have had no starter issues.

Did you "misplace" one of the hollow pins that locate the starter? The mounting bolts go through them and align the starter perfectly. If one or both are missing the starter will not work correctly.
