Can anyone give me any advice as far as my 92 Metro 3cyl. It starts fine and idles OK, its just when I get to higher gear or higher rpm's it just acts like its not getting enough fuel. Someone told me its the fuel pressure regulator. Please give me any advice if anyone has had the same problem. |

Start with the easy stuff. Check fuel pressure where it goes into throttle body with a fuel pressure tester. If you don't have one, many auto parts stores will loan them. You are looking for about 23 p.s.i (or thereabouts, dont have my manual here to verify). If pressure is good, then you need to look at regulator or injector. If pressure is low, replace fuel filter and re-test. If still low, its time to drop the tank and pull the pump.

Welcome to the forum mscott Check for low compression too, a very common problem. Edited by crankcase, Dec 9 2011, 12:24 AM.

Ok. So I have the same issue. Sort of. I am replacing the filter today, but I know how my luck goes. So, when I head out to get my new fuel pump, what brand is the best to seek out? In the past, Autozoo has never sold me pumps that last, and I am not in a position to buy a part I don't trust... Thanks in advance |

Do as allmountain40 says and check fuel pressure. Don't jump in at the deep end right away and replace the fuel pump. Could also be the pressure regulator. Accessible without pulling rhe tank. |
