I am having a devil of a time finding head bolts for a 1996 Metro 1.3L engine. I rebuilt the engine 2 years ago and I tried getting head bolts from 3tech but he told me he only sold them for the 1.0L engine. I saw online where I could buy a gasket set with head bolts included so that is what I used to rebuild the engine with but now (of course) it is 2 years later and the cheapo head gasket has failed (or maybe it is the cheapo head bolts that stretched I don’t know). I called the local Chevy dealer and he told me the head bolts for the 1.3L was discontinued. I tried several auto parts stores with no luck. I found some on the internet (Fel Pro part number ES74021) and I was curious why my parts store couldn’t get them so I called Fel Pro. Fel Pro told me that their ES74021 bolts were for the 1.0L engine only and not the 1.3L. They told me they did not make any head bolts for the 1.3L. I called NAPA and they told me they had a set so I asked if they were Fel Pro and he said yes so I asked the part number and he said ES74021. When I expressed my concerns about the fit he looked further and said “Oh yea I see at the bottom of the page that this is for the 1.0L only, we don’t have any for the 4 cylinder engine”. No luck at summetracing.com or headbolts.com either. So now I’m stuck. I want to put a good gasket like a Fel Pro head gasket on but can’t find the bolts anywhere. Does anybody have any source for these bolts? Thanks, Geosedan |

You can call and ask these people. Theres one close to me if they have them. I could pick them up and send them to you. If you decided to do something like that be sure to call the Memphis location. http://iep.qwik-order.com/WD/About/about.htm |

Wow enginedoctorgeo that is very nice of you. I see they have an e-mail address maybe they can mail a set right to me if they have them. Of course if they are not torque to yield I guess I can use the old bolts. Everything I have read so far on the forums said the Metro bolts are torque to yield but it could be that they were referring to the 3 cylinder engine, I don't know. |

That's strange, because I've always sold bolts for that motor. As far as I know, they all use TTY, except the GT DOHC motor. |

Thanks 3Tech . I already emailed you this morning hoping you got some in since 2 years ago. I thought I emailed you about the bolts 2 years ago when I asked about a camshaft for that engine but maybe I just asked about the camshaft. I remember you said I should just keep the camshaft I have in there now. Anyway, thank goodness the problem is solved since you have the bolts. Just email me back with the price and how to pay you. Thanks everyone for your help. There are a few times that I don’t think I could have kept my Geo running without the help of all of you. |

PartsDinosaur only lists for the 1.0L then goes up to 1.6L Bolt Depot also goes from 1.0L to 1.6L Found two sets for the 1.3 on e-bay but have to order the whole gasket set: http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=geo+metro+head+bolts&_sacat=6028&_dmpt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&_odkw=geo+metro&_osacat=6028&bkBtn=&_trksid=p4506.m270.l1313 |

Thanks Gerrygrit those complete gasket sets with bolts are what I bought when I rebuilt it 2 years ago. 3Tech has the bolts so I bought them from him today. It seems like 3Tech has a monopoly on the bolts for the 1.3L engine!
