Nice toy Jelly, are you a ham (AE5VU)?

I'm thinking I would really like a new lathe,
but my Christmans will have to wait until January.

Yes and no. Got my technician's license 10 years ago so I could buy a PCB layout software for a discounted price they offered for hams (Circad).

I have a small lathe, grizzly 7x14 I bought I think 8'ish years ago. Made parts for my old road bike (80's Peugeot with swiss threads) as I couldn't get parts for it. Other odds and ends. Have a mini-mill too but it doesn't have enough mass to do much, unlike the lathe that doesn't have much mass but is pretty capable still.

Metros, spectrum analyzers, and metal lathes on one forum is almost too good to be true.

I want to get a 7x12. I don't think I will have a realistic chance of finding a 7x14 I can afford, but that would be even better. I presently have 9x20, but I need something more portable for my overcrowded garage.

I wonder if spectrum analyzers could be used to service cars? Every time-base/oscilloscope signal has a frequency-base/spectrum analyzer counterpart. I guess it's all about how to interpret the readings. Anything that repeats could potentially be seen on a spectrum analyzer.

Yup. Pretty much every speed sensor out there
