Are them craftsman tools you bought that were supposed to be lifetime warranty gonna really be a lifetime warranty?

None near me. There some local small ones that I never see cars at. I went there today to replace a 2 ratchets and 2 screwdrivers. They have to send me the screwdrivers in the mail. The postage will be more than the tools. I still like sears but closing the small stores make sense....they are about useless

Horn....Don't Knock the Small Sears Family Store too Badly.....These are Folks who took a chance on a Franchise.....And SEARS does a PISS POOR Job of supporting them in any way, shape, or form.....These folks are just trying to make a living.... Make a Buck.... You Know....." The American Dream "......Hell, they don't even have the latitude/choice of what to Stock in the Store.....the Company DICTATES That......I KNOW it's sometimes a Real Pain-In-The-Ass to trade in these Small Stores ( I Know, I Work In One) But the Business is MUCH Appreciated and as these Small Store Fail....The Big Box Guys will TOTALLY Dictate WHAT you can Buy, WHERE You Can Buy It, and HOW MUCH IT COSTS..... :(

Kmart needs to go the way of the dinosaur and dodo bird. It was a great company until it couldn't compete with walmart. Oh well, grow or die.

I have no problem with the small stores....im just saying it doesnt make sense to have a small one when a few miles down the road there is a big 1. I wasnt complaining about the screwdriver. Just saying it was costing them. The franchisor usually dictates what the franchisees can do.

I used to love shopping with the Sears catalog. I think it was a huge mistake to have dropped it when they did. I still don't believe they saved all that much even though it was a different business environment back then particularly in the shipping aspect.

I am sorry for the franchisees though. If it wasn't for their presence I think the whole enterprise would have collapsed a long time ago. Nearest K-mart to me is about 75 miles or so. I used to stop in there whenever in town but not so much since Sears bought in. It's just a shame that the smaller discount chains have so much trouble staying competitive. We need the variety / competition to maintain the pressure to keep prices down.

And yes, it does give a good reason to think on all the "lifetime" warranties we see.. nothing lasts forever, tools or corporations. Or warranties for that matter..

Yep lifetime warranties on tool are only useful if you have a place to swap them out.

Grr

you do realize walmart is going to DESTROY life as you know it here right?

so because walmart can buy their way into massive profits and effective monopoly you want MORE monopolies to compete with them?

walmart should never have been PERMITTED to get as big as they are. and the solution required NO new regulations. simply enforcement of existing TARIFF regulations to remove any monetary advantage to moving our labor force to china.
