I know I'm just a dumb girl, but... What should the the dynamic compression ratios for a recently rebuild g10 motor with a stock bottom end, no decking of block or head running the 3 tech head read? It is my understanding the the performance head will give a lower dynamic pressure reading. If you have the performance, or economy head. cam, and timing gear, I would like to hear your compression numbers. please indicate what set-up you are running so I can compare apples to apples. cuz I'm just a girl. M. Webb, I would love you to chime in on this, and post your scope readings if you have any for this. I think the info you put out is technical, but understandable. |

Dumb girls don't know the difference between dynamic and static compression . . .

its nice to see an answer albeit not directly to my question on Dark Star quest for speed. Thanks for chiming in. It validates the readings that I took. Cheers to all |

Ehhh.... No real way to test 'Dynamic Compression' without putting the head on a flow bench... Also only really needed when playing with super or turbo-charging. Static Compression, is what you get when you crank an engine over, with the throttle wide open. Economy geared cams will net you higher compression. Engine will pull harder sooner, run out of breath sooner, etc. Valves are typically held open for less time, less overlap. Performance geared cams will net you lower compression. Engine will pull harder later, run out of breath later, etc. Valves are typically held open longer, more overlap. Lumpy cams require faster idle speeds, etc. etc. Edited by gamefoo21, Jan 16 2012, 02:50 PM.

I have a performance engine pulling 150 lbs of pressure(in two outta three cylinders). On a stock motor thats the nearly wore out readings. Thanks for chiming in. Now in the process of rebuilding- again.

still wondering if there is a real answer out there...., and if anyone has dyno'ed their built motors..., thanks all. |
