Anyone ever work for valvoline?; how does the tuition reimbursement work?

So im gonna start looking for a job soon and have seen that the valvoline instant oil change place in my town and the next town over needs employees. I did work at the walmart tle so I have experience. From what I have seen they only pay 8.35 plus commission. So does anyone know how the commission works there?
also something that really caught my eye is tuition reimbursement. That would be nice but how does that work? If they paid a good portion of my college that would be nice but I doubt its as nice as it sounds. For 8.35 I dont want to change oil but depending on commission and reimbursement it might not be bad. So can anyone offer some insight...

You probably get 10% of all the air filters and wipers that you sell to people who don't need them.

Thats how sears tire america was. You sell 10 grand in products a week, you ended up getting 12 an hour.

My company has a tuition reimbursement and I'm sure the Valvoline place works the same way. Note that it says RE-imbursement. This means that you arrange to pay for the course up front and on getting a passing grade, they will pay you back the cost. Also ask what courses they will pay for and what they won't pay for. Once you're hired and have been there long enough they know you're a good worker, ask them then. Good luck bro :cheers

Thats one thing I really dislike. Now if they need it its a different story. when I worked at the tle we had the district manager work with us for a week :banghead ....if any air filter had the slightest amount of dirt on it he would have us get on the intercom and call the person. The person would walk across the store and more often get mad.

Thanks. Hopefully its not just automotive classes. Also lets say you have a loan so they reimburse that. Or do u literally have to pay the cash first.

i don't know how mco's and dco's get to be so high up. they are always lazy and completely disconnected with how things ACTUALLY work at a store. i like to tell them to their face that what they are saying doesn't work, explain why, and then show them how "WE do it around here".

Well they get so high up by kissing ass. When the district manager was around we would explain that things would be different so they had a heads up. He wouldnt listen to us and he was our boss so we couldnt just say "this is the way we do ot around here". He would get a bonus on how much we sold. He also would get more if we had less workers. We would let him try his great idea then watch it blow up in his face. It was entertaining. He had this grand idea of setting a display with wipers and air filters outside. He thought people would see it and buy some...nope. They just saw it and took it. Lol

Good question. I always figured I'd ask the college financial aid office how it works as a general rule. Colleges are businesses and generally don't give anything away. I'm sure you would have to either pay up front or arrange a loan. Remember it's called RE-imbursement meaning they will repay you for the cash you put out. :deal

I'd bet they have a list of select courses they accept for the plan. Something directly related to the job. Walmart supposedly has the same thing if you're working towards a management position.

Of course you could get a job at walmart and if you have experience, start at 9 or 10. Shitty place to work though unless you handle it day to day.

I've noticed over time though with air filters and wipers, almost everyone needs them. Probably 50% of the cars to come in need an air filter, and 25% need wiper blades. Just in the last week I've seen a filter that was completely black with parts of it decaying and missing chunks. Guy didn't want to replace it, thought it was fine. :shake

With a mind set like that you wont be sellin anything. :( When I worked at a bank dealing with deposit products, our mantra was everyone could use another bank account. :popcorn
