Where are you in the midwest, if you are close I may be able to help you out with this car. Or I might be interested in it if you don't want to fix it.
I am in La Crosse WI, Where are you?

...I don't know your situation, but even if you have to drop a few hundered bucks into getting it back on the road it would be worth it. It might not be as bad as you think - pull the heade & see what your are dealing with before just giving up.

The only used cars out there that is compatible with the mpg of a Metro that is reasonably priced would be maybe a VW Golf (and it would probably have +100K miles on it)

Just my opinion.

Let's do some physics. The piston should travel the same distance away from the spark plug no matter the timing. If you have one cylinder with zero compression, you could suspect a broken valve tumbling about the combustion chamber and interfering with the plug. The second cylinder that is smashing the plug either has 150, or 180 compression as you stated which tells me that the valves are intact and the piston has changed its course, either by a stretched rod, wrist pin, or failed crankshaft bearings. My fathers metro engine failed to the point where you could grab the balancer and move the crankshaft up and down. This was a 1.3L in a '97 with very regular oil changes.

How long ago were these plugs changed? Not to be a jerk, but it's possible that something fell into two of the holes while you had the old one's out. If you had enemies, that would be a great way to sabotage a car! ^o)

Grabbed this from his thread ''$850 exchange. I will deliver it for Geo Metro gas money. If you're nice, have a warm place to work, and let me camp out in your driveway, I'll consider helping install it. "
