That would be a great idea for a shed or garage, I can't see it being too pratical for the large majority of homes in the U.S. |

Very cool; a very simple yet effective idea. A friend of mine has a log cabin and in the roof of his cabin he has some something that looks like a tube skylight. It provides just the right amount of light during the day....I kind of have no idea how he sleeps at night if it's a full moon :). Here is a link to the design I am talking about.... http://www.scrapbookscrapbook.com/DAC-ART/skylights-sky-lites.html Edited by Eric J, Jan 19 2012, 04:29 PM.

Bottle lights are cool. I have been trying to think of good ways to use 2 liter bottles for quite a while. This was a good idea someone came up with for sure. |

I just used up what was left of my gallon jug of hawaiian punch. These are larger than the two liter bottles. Would allow more light. That person in the video who plans on instaling like a zillion of those things could go to someone who manufacturers plastic prducts and have some custom made and improved just for his application that would be better and put out more light too. Might could even invent some kind of way to cap over it in case you wanted to turn the light off. |

I wonder if it would be possibly to take your solar yard lamps that have the solar panels on top and seperate the solar panel from the lamp and run wires between. So you could leave the solar charging panel outside in the sunlight but move the lamp inside via wiring. Charge outside but produce light inside. Anyone seen solar lamping of this type? |

i suppose you could do it with those yard lights. It wouldnt take much. Unsolder the short wires, if its not a direct connection. Run them through the wall or roof and re solder. Keep the light sensor covered with some electric tape. This would Only work if the solar was strong enough to actually run the light. Usually they have 2 AA rechargable batterys in there that the solar pannel slowly charges during the day then the lights run off of it at night. |

his objective is not to have it manufacturered so people will have to buy it at a profit. the objective is to get people to make them themselves. careful with the solar lights the issue you will encounter is losses of that length of wire. you might need to double up the panels just to overcome the resistance in the wires. |
