After a work issued 2AA Maglight, the twist on/off style, nearly drove me crazy. I searched for an upgrade. Loved Surefire but it was beyond my price range. Then I read rave reviews for a Remington High Performance LED Tactical Flashlight. It has 3 modes high (150) low (60) and strobe, runs on 2 123a batteries. But what sold me was the machined aluminum tactical housing, nice holster and the price. 35.00. I love it! It's small and super bright. And the soft touch button feature is very cool.

Got 70 MPG?

Here's mine, I have two of them, and extra batteries.

I carry this on my keychain. Quite bright, ALWAYS on hand. Incredibly useful at work, in the car, etc.
I use a low discharge NiMH AAA battery - no worries about leaking, able to handle the current draw, always have a fresh one on the charger.

I got sick of replacing $9 AA Mini Mags every six months, so I got a Pelican M6 LED. Model 2390. Great light. A bit pricey, and it eats expensive CR123A camera batteries, but very bright with a nice beam pattern. They offer an absolutely unconditional replacement warranty, which they jokingly say doesn't cover "bears or children under 5". Run over it with a tank and they send you a new one.

The factory Cordura belt holster sucks. It will fit on a belt that is literally 5" wide (does such a belt exist??), so every time you draw the light the holster would get pulled up damned near to your ribcage. I replaced it with a leather Bianchi tactical flashlight holster...much better.

I have been using mine for years, and it hasn't missed a beat. Pelican is mostly known for their tough waterproof cases, but they also make great flashlights! :thumb

Why you Mutt!

I also saw a nice 1000 lumen Maglite-style LED flashlight at Costco the other day for about $45.

I've been using the LED flash on my smartphone as a flashlight for months - works like a charm and I always have it with me. It eats battery bars like candy, tho. But for all the needs I've had for it so far it works great for the 10-15 minutes I might need a flashlight. Too lazy to get a $.99 keychain flashlight (no need! I swear!)

I was the exact same way! I wanted one with a beam and one that wouldn't break if I dropped it on the ground.

my new Note II has a crazy bright LED flash (it actually gets HOT if you leave it on too long)

bonus the 5x zoom lens I got (works "ok") anyway stick it infront of the LED and it CONCENTRATES the light. CRAZY bright :-)

99 cent store? What about the harbor freight store? I got a flashlight on each side of all my doors and a box full of unopened ones :shake

My favorite led light is the 3 c cell from advance auto. Its freaking bright and seems to run forevar. Those keychain single cell lights I have had 2 fail on me. I got both from taget in the luggage section. :P
