![]() I called the local Chevy dealership asking about the availability of the manual transmission shifter fork upper and lower bushings and spring. He told me the lower bushing and spring were available from some NOS supplier and both parts were expensive. He told me the upper bushing is not available. Does anyone know if the Suzuki Swift manual transmission for the 4 cylinder is the same as the Geo 3 cylinder transmission as far as the shifter fork parts are concerned? If so, I'll try to order the parts through Suzuki Also, if anyone knows of a company that makes these replacement bushings, please let me know. Note: I do have a friend that has a machine shop, so I suppose he could make them but I would need the exact dimensions of the bushings. Thanks Edited by 96Geoman, Jan 21 2012, 11:50 AM.

3 or 4 cyl doesn't affect the transmission setup. In the parts diagrams, left side of Line 19 is the diagram. Righthand side 'parts info' is another link 19. 1995-2000 M,Clutch & Control, MM5, M42, M58, Manual Transmissions - SU00087 parts info The dimensions for the bushings are listed. 7**05993 BUSHING CLU YOKE SHF,(UPR),(16X20X20MM) 8**059938BUSHING CLU YOKE SHF,(16X24X19MM) Edited by Jittney, Jan 21 2012, 02:05 PM.

They are important. Just so you know. That is the throw out arm. Or TO arm. |

Thanks Jittney, I forgot to mention that I have a 93 engine / transaxle in my 96 Geo. My machine shop friend told me about a site called McMaster-Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/# http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-sleeve-bearings/=fwm1x6 There's a 16 x 20 x 20 which would fit for the top assuming the 96 transmission is the same as a 93 in regards to the shifter fork bushings. |

Correct, as usual, Murf. His post said "manual transmission shifter fork upper and lower bushings and spring", but the picture was for the TO. I was posting the gearshift fork when I rechecked his picture. At any rate, here's the other information, in case you need it. 10. 1995-2000 M,Shift Controls/Manual Transmission,Gearshift Fork - SU04081 parts info Just read you have the 93 25. 1989-1994 M,Shift Controls/Manual Transmission,Gearshift Fork - SU04033 parts info Edited by Jittney, Jan 21 2012, 03:23 PM.

Back when I was doing installs. I found an easy way to remove the funky old bushings. I have not tried it on our units yet. I would use a piece of a filler tube for an old Chevy T350 auto. I cut a piece about 6 to 8" long. Then I would cut a slice right down the length of the tube about 3" long. This would allow it to flex. Then I would slide it over the end of the TO arm and tap out the bushing. I am not sure which of the thin walled tubing will fit over our TO arm and inside the bore where the bushing goes. But I am betting there is one. |

Thanks Woodie! The bushings are available from Suzuki. The spring is on national back order by Suzuki. If you order the spring from Suzuki, it may or may not ever arrive, it's a gamble. GM can purchase the spring from a vintage GM site that sells to dealers only. GM part # 96060188 Spring for Clutch release shaft. My cost including normal shipping is $22.00 |

No. Those parts are for a front wheel drive trans. You've got a rear-drive transmission, plus the parts being discussed are for a release bearing arm. Your trans doesn't have those parts. If the shifter is screwed, you're looking at a trans - the shifters on those transmissions insert directly into the trans and interface with the shift rods inside. |
