As for me I follow the numbered sequence figuring that as I apply pressure from the center outward it gives thing a chance to flex and seat as pressure is applied. |

...and as far as re-using the head gasket? Did I destroy it by using it long enough to warm the engine or can it be used again? Also, for the mating surface on the head and block, there was quite a bit of crap left from the old gasket. I then scraped it with a razor. The surface is smooth now but I did see a little bit of metal flakes scape off. Is there some kind of surface treatment or machining I should perform now? |
