econ the answer is simple. stress. we live in a society where government and corporations (realistically not a rant here) dominate and control our lives with the "dollar"

Not everyone can "let it go" people have stress. they need to VENT. you can't vent at the police or the corporations or the government they have insolated themselves from us very effectively.

Can't take it out on strangers easily since that leads to interactions with police and government.

so we tend to vent on each other on family etc..

if you don't have massive "money" issues you are way way ahead of the ball game over most of the rest of the US.

this is why your seeing more crime. this is why your seeing more road rage.

and instead of fixing whats CAUSING these societal problem we "clamp down" harder on the laws which does nothing but make the problem even worse.

I see it every day. families and couples fighting over TRULY trivial issues that in the bigger picture are worth less than dirt.

but its all they can do to "vent" they have no other effective outlet it builds up inside them.

THIS will in fact lead to the destruction of our society.

Most of the time your phone will end up in the hands of someone who knows someone who will "pay" for it.

they have clear instruction. pull the battery do not turn it on. they hand the phone over get paid that person them turns the phone on in a farraday cage or some other place where it won't get signal.

this way they can do a data dump and get all the information off your phone. the idea is sometimes they are going to get a phone from "someone" with valuable information or contacts in it that they can "sell" to someone who desires that information.

VERY common with cabbies.

I am still looking for a bluetooth solution that does not cost an arm and a leg. IE something that will cause both the BT gadget around my neck and the phone to start beeping so I both know its missing AND can now here where it is.

I found a few solution but man are they expensive.

I am the one on the left.

I wouldn't say we don't have money concerns Nerys. We live in an area considered to be the slums of the valley. In my neighborhood several homes have been meth houses.
Socio-economically we are average income.
We are the proverbial DIYers because we have to be. Sometimes I think my middle name is Stress.

Econoboxxer, please dont get the impression that I go home at night and throw my hands up in frustration. I love the lady whom I have chosen to live with in a blissful God inspired marriage. It adds a sense of humor to my narratives when I portray her as an arm breaker. She is far from that. She is the type of woman who does not do frilly grirly stuff, rather a woman who has her head where it needs to be, squarely facing the Lord and his teachings. I am very blessed to have her as a wife. If it offends some folks on how I view her tongue lashings, well, I can't control everybody's feelings. Sorry, if you didn't catch the humor I was trying to impart. Maybe I'll do better in the future.

How many men have gotten home from a long day of work, walked through the door, expect to get a loss on the cheek and instead the wife says" How come you didn't take the garbage out to the curb at 5am this morning"? That was the type of repartee I was trying to illustrate. Not that she is a continual nagging woman. Mrs.Dayle1960 is a great wife even if she busts my chops about my laziness.

You truly are blessed.
My brother's wife on the other hand..., they've been together 16 years, choosing to tie the knot last year. He knew what he was in for, bless his soul.
Glad its him, not me.

Yep, Mr. Bill. My wife has turned a wrench on every metro we've owned. Currently she is wanting me to buy rings so I can rebuild a G13. She will be up to her elbows with grease when I try to install it.

yup found that one. but it has several issues

it beeps but the PHONE does not beep. so how do you find it?

Second its range is "too high" you can get 50+ feet away in some cases before it alerts you!

ahhh it appears they have a new app which lets you adjust the "leash length"

hmmm that might not be so bad now. but man $90 is a lot.
