I took Latin for three years in high school for 3 reasons 1) My parents told me Latin was the basis for every other language and it looked good on a college transcript (my guidance counselor told me the same thing) 2) I took a foreign language in H.S. so I wouldn't have to deal with it in College 3) there was a girl in Latin Class that I tried my hardest to have 'relations' with for 3 years. I took 11 years off from College, I never got the girl and when I met with my UCF adviser last year, he informed me that I needed a foreign language to graduate from UCF REGARDLESS of what I did in High School. That kinda made me want to drive all the way back up to Virginia to punch my old guidance counselor in the face! So now I'm in my second semester of Spanish. It's starting to come together and make a little more sense. I am starting to understand bits and pieces of what Spanish speaking people are saying when I encounter them in public. Foreign language is worth the time and effort it takes to learn but it is a hell of a commitment. It's like working out, you have to get in a routine and just never stop practicing. Flashcards are the key; English word on one side, Spanish word on the other side. |

Latin is the basis for every romance language. English is germanic. Eastern languagges are not Latin based either. |

LOL. Next you will want to know what are Grits, Let us consider what chitlins are - they are hog intestines or guts. Some people turn up their noses at the mention of chitlins; other leave the house while they are cooking, driven away by their odor. However, the volume sold for New Year's dinners, with Christmas and Thanksgiving not far behind, attests to chitlins popularity in the United States. Chitterlings is the more formal name, but most people call them chitlins. They are usually part of a larger meal that includes collard greens, fried chicken, and other traditional Southern foods. Chitlins are not for the faint of palate or smell, which is why traditionally they were cooked outdoors at backyard hog killings in winter. They are a food that you either love or hate! Chitlins take a lot of time and effort to clean. They are partially cleaned when they are sold, but require additional hand cleaning before they are ready to eat. The secret to good and safe chitlins is in the cleaning, not in the cooking. They are available in supermarkets in African-American neighborhoods,(you can buy Chitlings any where around here) especially during the holiday season. they can also be ordered from a butcher, but be prepared to buy 10 pounds of chitlins to get 5 pounds to cook. Go for it coche - afterall you named yourself on this forum in Spanish- one would expect a modicum of understanding of the language. My old man spoke four languages well, and two others not so well. I didn't get that gene. Completely ignoring the gender inflammatory comments. Edited by econoboxer, Feb 11 2012, 03:00 AM.
