I haven't been driving it really at all since this happened. Been keeping it in the garage. I've got the front two wheels off and it's up on blocks for better access. Waiting on my income taxes, I've got about 2-3 weeks before I'll have em back. When I do I plan on doing 60,000 miles maintenance, new head, check bottom end (I'm really curious about my #1 cyl). Whatever I need to do to get at least another 100,000 miles out of it. (Said this before, but) Project thread coming soon! |

If the bolt broke recently it will not be tight. The tension is lost when the head breaks off. You should be able to tap it around with a chisel after removing the oil filler tube. There is always penetrating oil and heat & thyme. If nothing works there is always removing the pump, getting a better angle, or drilling for an easyout. |

Bolt is tight due to corrosion. Breaking it doesn't loosen it a bit. Need to keep hitting it with penetrating oil for a few days then drill it and use an extractor after adding some heat. Looks like the water pump is due anyway. |
