I recently replaced a 1.3L engine in my 95 Metro. The replacement engine has a bad rocker assembly. Is it possible to take the rocker assembly out of the other 1.3 engine and end up with a fixed problem? The other engine was run without oil (or very low oil) and it ended up with a shattered piston and damaged cylinder. Also, are the rocker arms interchangeable regardless of which valve set they came from? Are they specific to their position on the retaining rod? Sorry about my terminology....if it's wrong. I'm not a mechanic obviously, but am loving working on these Geo's. I have 3 of them. Two white 2door 95 metros with the 1.0L (I call them the twins), and one blue 2door with the 1.3L.

Also, does anyone have any idea where to find these parts for really cheap? I want them to be reliable also, so I guess middle of the road for price is appropriate. |

The rocker arms themselves are dealer parts....$40 each here in NC... The valve adjusters can be ordered from partsdinosaur.com @ $6 each |

Yes, you can take the rocker assembly from another engine and swap it around, 95-97 they're all the same. Oddly intake and exhaust rockers and lifters are the same too, only the shafts are different. If taking the parts off that oil starved engine, I would inspect the very, very closely. This valve train is already known for oiling failures. |
