Oil return holes look small. I would try something else.

I really like the look of the more expensive Beck/Arnley head gasket on Rockauto.com. Or the DVORAK gasket on ebay.

The oil return holes on all of them pretty much suck. But Felpro makes great head gaskets. Very reliable.

The oil return ports are those four oblong goofy shaped things at the bottom of your picture. They're fine. what everyone is talking about is the two small holes at the very top of your picture with the giant circles drawn around them. They are for air to get from the crankcase up into the valve cover area and are exactly the same as the factory gasket. Unless you're supercharging, or expect your fresh rebuild to have a crapload of blowby, don't worry about it. The better head gaskets have the metal rings around the cylinders connected to each other, but most people have no problem no matter what gasket they use. Head gasket for a 5,000 rpm one liter engine isn't really too much of a challenge.

I think Woodie's right. I have a little over a year on my what now appears to be a cheap head gasket.

I enlarged the little holes, but am questioning if it was necessary. However, I will enlarge the holes, to be sure, on my future builds as well. I used a drill and touched up/smoothed with a Dremel. There's metal strands running through the entire gasket.

I looked all over last night for those enlarged holes xD it's basically a grocery getter, so I'm not gonna worry too much over it. I just want my gas mileage to go back near the 50's

The Felpro gasket at my local NAPA does have the oil holes enlarged ( to the house shape of the head). That was a year ago.
There is difference of opinion concerning cheap gaskets. I know a rebuilder uses their own low cost gasket and apparently no problems. I bought a non-Felpro gasket a guy claimed was heavy duty. I had problems of my own getting the head seated right but once it was sealed it has given no problems. It may be the extreme overheating scenario which seperates the men from the boys. Next time I would go for the Felpro pre-enlarged. I opened up my holes but felt concern about the edges. I used a mini- nibbler. But it is worth something just to have the gasket cut right to begin with. So it is $100 gasket set.
