Did you first pray to the metro gods and make sacrifices before you started this endeavour?

Did you put the plug wires on in the correct orientation?

Does the replacement engine have a crankshaft sensor between the engine block and the pulley which drives the accessory belts?

And the reason the engine was replaced is?

The correct firing order is 1-3-2 - Corrected picture of plug wire diagram.

The distributor needs to be of the same (about) year as your 1996.

Pulled engine because the bolt holding the timing gear onthe crankshaft came loose, had pulled engine before I relized the problem, put the bolt back and put engine back in I will check on the ground tomorrow and see if that is it. It was reunning great untill the bolt problem. Thanks to everyone..

I had crankshaft troubles before similar to yours. The bolt had gotten loose and caused the keyway on the crank to get wallered out! This was making the engine not stay in time. Tightening the bolt back up didn't fix the problem. I had to remove the pulley, install a new key, put loctite on it to hold it in place, and reinstall everything. However, this fix only lasted me 3 months. I then tried to lightly tack weld the pulley onto the crank. I never could get it back in time so I got a junkyard motor. The wallered out keway had totaly ruined the crankshaft.
