Filling up with gas this morning. A guy driving a ford F-250 "GAS" Asked me if I would be interested in selling my car. He said gas was killing him, and he was looking for a small car to drive to work. This makes the 2nd time I have been asked in 2 weeks.

Anyone else having this happen to them lately?

I had a guy chase me for about 2-3 miles honking. I finally got annoyed and pulled over ready to get into a squable, when he comes out of his car and say "Are you interested in selling your Metro?"

Happened it me once. By a guy in a big Dodge Ram. Asked me to sell it, then when I turned him down he told never to get rid of it.

a few times... particularly after a recent increase in gas prices, like this week in California where gas is up to $4.06/gal

Hasn't happened to me yet but I imagine it might soon. The top story on the news was just about gas prices. $5.00 in Los Angles. The price went up $0.10 during the 2 min broadcast.

Funny thing is after buying the geo it doesn't even bother me when gas goes up.

I actually get it regularly, atleast once a day. Today while i was calculating fuel milage i had a guy that walked behind my car and read my milage log, ask me if id sell my car for 700 bucks, he pulled out his wallet and before he could get it out of his pocket, i said nope, not for sale.

It hasn't happened to me yet this year however, a few years ago when gas went over $4 a gallon, I was followed a few times to my destination with would be buyers. "Hey, mister, ya wanna sell that car?" NO! There I was, recalling how many times at a filling station I got S.U.V. owners looking at my car with smug satisfaction that they had a "living room on wheels", whereas I was driving a Sh%# box car. Then the tables turned. I vividly remember that I was at a stop light one afternoon. Guy on my left in a Lincoln Navigator, rolls down the window. "What kind of mileage do you get in that thing?" I replied "Only around 50 in the city but, I do get about 58 on the highway". He looked at me with astonishment, rolled up his window and drove off to the next gas station.Whereupon he spent $120 dollars for that weeks gas. Me? $30 gets me 5 weeks of gas to go to work and back. As Elvis would say; "Thank you very much."

After purchasing my 94 3/5 the lady at the inspection office said that "those things are worth their weight in gold." The male trooper said wow, you don't see many of those things around anymore. He then asked me what, is that a four cylinder? I told him, no it's a three, and that ford was just now producing a three cylinder to try to get the mileage these do.

DAMN STRAIGHT! ^o)

we don't need no stinkin' electric-hybrid fancy wiz-bang contraptions to get 45-50MPG. Don't even need fancy schmancy Turbo Direct Injection diesels either!

Who says fuel-economy technology is "catching up".... it's been here for decades!

what is the most effective thing i can do to fix up my metro for a 100 bux or less? i have put new spark plugs wires, battery, fuel filter, fuel pump, air filter., battery terminals, new tires, new distributor cap and rotor. any other cheap ideas that help make car survive longer (141,000 miles)

taller tires, 13's or 14's, will help make your cruising rpms a little lower, regular maintenance helps alot too :P

At 141,000 have you done a compression test? How to compression test. That will tell the truth on the engines health. But may lead to spending more money. :smackface

How about a timing belt and tensioner? If the current belt is old and stretched a new one will add some pep.

yea when it comes to a geo whats regular matienence? i kno oil brake fluid brakes wires tires antifreeze pretty much all fluids anything special that helps? and also do you have a front and or rear bumper for this car? and how much wld u want for both actually heres a list and if my window an light housing come in with no problems i will need the whole list or what u have: front bumper, rear bumper, glass for driver side mirror, strut lifters that hold up hatch back, inside and outside door handles for rear doors. All items must be in like new condition at least not dented up cracked worn out etc. if u have all these things let me know what u wld be willing to sell all of them together for plus shipping, thnx lol and if u have some nicer rims (not trailer looking rims) i wld also be interested.
