Tax refund? :hmm Give it to The Wife. :-/
They can find the most useless ways to spend money faster than anyone I know of.
My girlfriend spent 142 dollars on three articles of clothing this weekend (bikini top/bottom and a bra). Wasn't even my money and I was upset.

It's not 30K, it's over 39K, that's almost 40K in taxes, lol.

No internship, you just got to work your ass off, know the right people, and have the knack to be a sales person.
starscream5000: Just curious why you are driving a Geo Metro when you are making enough to buy much much MUCH nicer cars...I understand and appreciate the desire to lessen your carbon footprint but, really, a Geo Metro?

Its all about the money!....u should live under NOT within your means. Cars are just an expense for the most part. Ive got a good friend who paid the same in taxes as starscream he doesnt live a lavished life. He does have a big house but got a good deal on it.
he is a loan officer...essentially it means he would rather have a lot of money in investments and retirement instead of paying $800 a month on a mercedes that will just lose value. (starscream please correct me if im wrong)

oh yea i would say 90% of the people on gmf dont really think of a carbon footprint. We think of the money we are saving and the ease of maintaining a metro.

I have and do own nicer cars than my Geo...

Would I rather drive my hopped up Charger R/T 60 miles each day to work at the tune of 20 MPG? Hell no. I can find better things to spend my money on than on gas.

I spent $75 of my tax money on a bunch of "new to me clothes" from a local consignment shop, bought a nice used laptop for school, a decent used camera, spending some on upgrades for my Geo and the rest going in savings to live off of while I finish school this year.

I'm afraid to do my taxes this year. I will be writing a big check because I sold a bunch of stuff on ebay and sold a house at a profit.

Old Man

20+ years ago (when I retired) I went from paying 24,000 in taxes to paying 1,400. got audited for the following 3 years !!!!

clothes? all is bought at the thrift store--when I retired I stopped haveing to please other people--anything over $10 for a shirt, coat and pants is too much.

paid 1700 into taxes this year--getting 1300 back. I will meekly sign the check and give it to the wife in hopes that she will not get mad over all the $$$ I have spent in the past year on my great grand kid, my grand kids, and my 'Vert.

My Wife is doing our taxes as I type. I have $200 in a savings account that got me $0.02 per month. :lol The on-line filing program is messed up but she will straighten it out.

Her obsession is cloth. :lol BUT she does thrift stores and on-line sales. VERY thrifty. :thumb

That's what I'm on here for:) With what I save on gas and insurance (changed my Subaru WRX to a "pleasure car") I'll need about $100-$115 less in my monthly transportation budget. I've been working on my own cars for over 10 years and I'm loving how easy the Metro is to work on.

Nice. I love driving around a torquey V8! My first car (which I still have) is a 1968 Mercury Cougar. With a bored/stroked 302 (331ci) and a 5-speed I get about 14mpg. Thinking about switching over to EFI one of these summers to move that up to around 20mpg.
