I spent $75 of my tax money on a bunch of "new to me clothes" from a local consignment shop, bought a nice used laptop for school, a decent used camera, spending some on upgrades for my Geo and the rest going in savings to live off of while I finish school this year.
I hear u with school.
if u need microsoft office 2010 for a class. Microsoft givs a free 60 day trial very useful.

Oh yea, that reminds me.... I also spent $99 on the student version of MSOffice this year.
Why do you buy MSOffice when there are good, free, alternatives?

I did my taxes last night - was sweating bullets 'cause I had to cash out a 401K last year to get a new roof on the house, pay some bills & get a tree cut down (I think I also used some of it to buy / transport the 'Vert too).

Thought I would owe money, but I'm getting back some. Even though I paid in more to taxes this year compared to last year (like double), I'm getting a few grand back total from the fed & state. Its all got a name to it, either into savings or to finance my wife & kids trip to TX in June to visit the kinfolk.

What refund? If you plan it right, you get to spend the refund money all year instead of giving the IRS and interest free loan!

Sounds goog in theory. Ive heard ppl say that too. But what about thingw like education credits?....they are giving me more than i gave them. Im not saying i deserve that money, but no way could i have planned a 0 refund check.

Also several americans would have wasted it during the year so it isnt a bad...

New plan... we are moving to Lewistown, Montana at the end of March so our check will go to moving expenses which we should be able to claim on our taxes next year if I understand it correctly.

If you are going to move to MT, at least move to somewhere west of the Continental Divide. The scenery and weather are much nicer.

Every time I see this thread, it reminds me I need to get the wife to do our taxes.

Good idea, thanks :thumb :thumb but The Wife decided to take a job in Blackfoot, Idaho. We drove over on Friday and back on Saturday. Just 350 miles, 7 gallons, 8-9 hours with stops.

Foothills, the horizon, fast food, good roads, lower costs, diversity. Nice. :)

I am the one on the left.

Did taxes yesterday. Was not too bad, only 12 pages this year, last year was 30. this year it only took two hours, last year, an all day event, and my hair fell out from the stress.

All said and done, will get back just under five hundred dollars. Better than paying it. My kid wants to go to Sweethearts dance, and her last ball gown was $350.00. so, I am thinking that kids formal dress will take the booty.
