I am making some custom splash guards for my engine bay since I am running no timing cover, and I need some replacement plastic rivets, like the ones holding the inner fender lining on. I have found some at lowes, but they are $1 per pair. Anyone know of a cheaper source? I am thinking of just getting the screw type since they look to be removable. |

Any local auto parts store. They're called lots of names, body clips, christmas tree clips, etc. |

10/4 on the Auto parts store. Or more specifically an automotive paint and body store. Our local Auto Value has a separate section for auto body needs. If I remember correctly a whole box (about 50) is less than $10.00 They come in some colors also. Black, white, tan, and grey are what I remember. Many different sizes too. These are the "easy to install, pretty much have to destroy to remove" type. The also carry the push pin and twist lock styles. For what it's worth, I like to use the more permanent type. How often do you plan on being down there? |

Thanks for the replys. Snowfish, right now I am getting ready to bend new plumbing and making bracketry for my tranny cooler, because I am mounting it on the upper rad crossmember. The problem with these little cars is the bumper fascia is a pain in the a$$ to get off. And I like everything accessible, the easier the better. So whatever I can re-engineer, or change to make life easier with these cars, I am for it. I think I will pickup two of the screw type fasteners from lowes and see how many times I can install it and remove it before it breaks. It looks to be solid plastic, but you never know....... |

I got mine at Napa. If you yank the bumper off you can get to all the fasteners inside it quite easily |

I don't remember seeing any plastic rivits on a metro, but I use them on other cars all the time. Harbor Freight has the best deal on plastic rivits. They have assortments in the same aisle as the steel and aluminium rivits. |

My local Ace hardware has a ton of different ones..... We have O'Reilly, Carquest and Napa, most of them has them as well. I bought these clips to replace the broken ones on my rockers for the plastic gizmo....They were cheap and work okay, they have a ton of different ones. http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Push_Type_Retainers_Clips_Nissan_Toyota_p/pas9114-25.htm |
