I have no experience with rebuilding heads so I've been looking at rebuilt heads for sale. I found this on one ebay for what I think is a decent price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/REBUILT-1-0-GEO-METRO-CYLINDER-HEAD-COMPLETE-/270914861619?hash=item3f13c8ba33&item=270914861619&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_1851wt_1165.
All I would need to buy is a gasket set and head bolts. With no experience on working or pulling a head, would this be a doable task?

It is doable. This is one of the simplest cars ever to work on.

http://geometroforum.com/topic/638797/1/ If the head you are installing is already rebuilt skip that part.

Caveman easy.

Just but a new head gasket and head bolts. First time you do it you will scratch your head. It is very straight forward so don't get worried if you think you've done something wrong. Should take three hours if no major problems pop up.

I would keep the major components intact. Don't pull wires or hose off the intake manifold. Just unscrew it from the head. Same for the exhaust manifold.

Even if for some reason u cant do it. Find a mechanically inclined buddy and give him some beer.

The hardest part will be removing the exhaust and intake from your old head. Getting to a few of the bolts is a bit tricky. Read around on removing those first, you may need to pick up a few extensions to get to all of them.

Food for thought.............I did not see mention of intake valve work. :hmm

I'd like to know that both exhaust & intake valves are fresh, if it were me. ^o)

If paying for a rebuilt head why not have both valves new. :dunno Especially since there's a thread about failed intake valves as of late. :die

FInishing my head installation today. Got a rebuilt head delivered to my door for 245.00. Got it from cylinder heads international. They are out of Texas. Start spraying those exshaust manifold bolts now with penitrating oil now. Pull intake with head. Make sure you get large can of carb cleaner to clean EGR valve and port in intake. Take your time pulling manifold studs from old head. Also take pictures of vacume hoses and wires. This gives you a good referance when reinstalling. If you have questions just ask. Take your time and good luck.

So basically, take off both manifolds leaving throttle body intact and all the wiring? Sounds easy enough :rocker

4 valve cover nuts, 4 little cromets under the nuts you have to knock loose with a screwdriver. Ytube from valve cover to air filter. 8 head bolts. 8 or so bolts on intake. 8 or so bolts on exhaust manifold. Head pulls right off.

Sweet thanks. I have done the valve cover so that won't be a problem.
